The F-16 Radar Warning Receiver (RWR) is an advanced avionics system designed to enhance the situational awareness and survivability of the pilot in hostile environments, by continuosly scanning for radal signals in the surrounding environment.
The RWR display shows the pilot real-time information about detected threats. In fact, the primary function of the RWR is to detect, identify, and alert the pilot to the presence of radar signals emitted by enemy threat systems, such as surface-to-air missiles (SAMs), anti-aircraft artillery (AAA), and other aircraft equipped with radar.
